Universal and efficient compressed sensing by spread spectrum and application to realistic Fourier imaging techniques

چکیده
We advocate a compressed sensing strategy that consists of multiplying the signal of interest by a wide bandwidth modulation before projection onto randomly selected vectors of an orthonormal basis. First, in a digital setting with random modulation, considering a whole class of sensing bases including the Fourier basis, we prove that the technique is universal in the sense that the required number of measurements for accurate recovery is optimal and independent of the sparsity basis. This universality stems from a drastic decrease of coherence between the sparsity and the sensing bases, which for a Fourier sensing basis relates to a spread of the original signal spectrum by the modulation (hence the name “spread spectrum”). The approach is also efficient as sensing matrices with fast matrix multiplication algorithms can be used, in particular in the case of Fourier measurements. Second, these results are confirmed by a numerical analysis of the phase transition of the l1-minimization problem. Finally, we show that the spread spectrum technique remains effective in an analog setting with chirp modulation for application to realistic Fourier imaging. We illustrate these findings in the context of radio interferometry and magnetic resonance imaging.

Compressed sensing for radio interferometry: spread spectrum imaging techniques
We consider the problem of reconstruction of astrophysical signals probed by radio interferometers with baselines bearing a non-negligible component in the pointing direction. The visibilities measured essentially identify with a noisy and incomplete Fourier coverage of the product of the planar signals with a linear chirp modulation. We analyze the related spread spectrum phenomenon and sugges...
متن کاملAccelerating Magnetic Resonance Imaging through Compressed Sensing Theory in the Direction space-k
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive imaging method widely used in medical diagnosis. Data in MRI are obtained line-by-line within the K-space, where there are usually a great number of such lines. For this reason, magnetic resonance imaging is slow. MRI can be accelerated through several methods such as parallel imaging and compressed sensing, where a fraction of the K-space lines...

Introduction: Several methods are currently used to resolve multiple fibers within a voxel including Q-space imaging such as DSI and QBI. These approaches are generally limited by the burden of dense sampling in Q-space to avoid aliasing, which makes their application to clinical studies difficult. However, compressed sensing (CS) can attain almost perfect reconstruction from incomplete random ...
